Social media has revolutionized the way humans communicate and their relationships. However, there are some negative aspects of social media such as the spread of false or dangerous information that poses a significant issue.
United States intelligence agencies report that Russians used social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter to spread false of inciting news in an elaborate effort to influence the presidential election and help President Trump win.
However, recently a more dangerous message has gone viral. One that has even led to young people dying. The meme I am referring to is the “Tide Pod Challenge.” People on social media are literally eating laundry detergent pads as a challenge similar to the “Ice Bucket Challenge” that took place a few years ago to help raise awareness for ALS.
But leave it to conservative commentator Tomi Lahren to blame the liberals for this viral issue. During a recent post, Lahren asserted: “I know what you’re thinking: The Tide Pod challenge couldn’t possibly be political, could it? Actually, yes it is.”
She continued to explain how liberal parenting logic was truly at fault, insisting that it’s “just the latest symptom of a larger problem: The breakdown of the American family. It’s what happens when kids aren’t taught boundaries, respect, consequences or logic.”
Lahren compared this liberal parenting style on that of animals, arguing that children with liberal parents are “wild animals that think they can do whatever the heck they want.”
She went on claim that liberals “dictate popular culture” and “brainwash young people into believing they live in a world where 64 gender options are up for selection, everything is free, Beyoncé is a God queen, and eating detergent is funny.” Does her argument make any sense?
