Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House author Michael Wolff claimed to HBO Real Time host Bill Maher that Republican President Donald Trump is currently having an affair with someone within his administration. Wolff added that he indirectly revealed who that person is in his book.
Looking closely at some passages, a Slate writer deduced that the person the president is having a tryst with, according to Wolff, is U.S Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley. Haley finally broke her silence and responded forcefully to that accusation.
In making his argument about Haley as Trump’s love interest, Slate‘s Daniel Politi pointed to a passage from Fire and Fury which read, “By October, however, many of the president’s staff took particular notice of one of the few remaining Trump opportunists: Nikki Haley, the UN ambassador. Haley — ‘as ambitious as Lucifer,’ in the characterization of one member of the senior staff — had concluded that Trump’s tenure would last, at best, a single term, and that she, with the requisite submission, could be his heir apparent.” The following paragraph was perhaps even more telling, stating, “The president has been spending a notable amount of private time with Haley on Air Force One and was seen to be grooming her for a national political future. Haley, who was much more of a traditional Republican, one with a pronounced moderate streak — a type increasingly known as a Jarvanka Republican — was, evident to many, being mentored in Trumpian ways. The danger here, offered one senior Trumper, ‘is that she is so much smarter than him.’”
Ambassador Haley spoke to Politico about the accusations and called them “disgusting” and “highly offensive.” She then dismissed them as just typical attacks against women and people who speak up. Said the former South Carolina governor, “It goes to a bigger issue that we need to always be conscious of: At every point in my life, I’ve noticed that if you speak your mind and you’re strong about it and you say what you believe, there is a small percentage of people that resent that and the way they deal with it is to try and throw arrows, lies or not.” She added, “I saw this as a legislator. I saw this when I was governor. I see it now. I see them do it to other women. And the thing is, when women work, they prioritize, they focus, and they believe if you’re gonna to something, do it right. Others see that as either too ambitious or stepping out of line.” Do you think that Trump and Haley are indeed having an affair?
