Social media has revolutionized the way we communicate with one another. On one hand, social media allows us to connect with millions of people that would otherwise not be possible. On the other hand, some people abuse social media by posting hate speech and bigotry. Some even argue that the President of the United States is one of the people who abuse social networking.
President Trump uses Twitter like no other President in history. The President defends his Twitter usage by arguing it is the most effective way for his message to reach his audience without the mainstream media twisting his words. However, Trump’s critics say that the President’s tweets often cross the line and jeopardize national security.
Just last week, Resist SF accused the Twitter CEO of being “complicit” by allowing Trump to continue to tweet threat to hostile North Korea.
What’s more, during a recent interview with CNN, Rep. Jackie Speier (D-Calif.) argued that Trump’s Twitter account should be deactivated. The Democratic Congresswoman asserted that Trump’s tweeting will make America “less safe” as we move forward.
Speier explained Trump’s recent tweets “should send out a huge red flag to every American.” The California lawmaker told CNN that Trump “is someone who is acting as the president, who watches Fox News, and based on what he hears there, he tweets.”
She then offered her solution arguing that Trump’s “Twitter account should be shut down, and he should listen to the experts who he is surrounded by who have really important information to share with him.” Do you agree with Speier?
