Special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation is showing no signs of slowing down despite President Trump’s legal team’s claims that the probe will conclude soon. In fact, Mueller’s team of investigators are currently looking into an interaction between a Russian lawyer and Ivanka Trump that took place surrounding the Trump Tower meeting in 2016. However, the current White House adviser did not attend the meeting. According to reports, Ivanka only exchanged greetings with the Russian attorney upon her arrival to Trump Tower. Mueller’s probe is focusing on any interactions the attorney, Natalia Veselnitskaya, and lobbyist, Rinat Akhmetshin, had with anyone who is close to the President. Mueller’s team has been looking into Donald Trump Jr.’s infamous meeting with the Russian attorney, who promised to hand over damaging information on Hillary Clinton, over the past year. Donald Trump Jr., the president’s son-in-law, and senior adviser Jared Kushner and former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort all attended the meeting with the Russian lawyer and lobbyist. Since then, Manafort and his business associate have been indicted on several felony charges as a result of Mueller’s probe.
Donald Trump Jr. stands by his claim that the meeting was simply to discuss American adoptions of Russian children. However, in an excerpt from a new book describing a chaotic first year of Trump’s presidency, former White House strategist Steve Bannon is quoted as saying that there was “zero” chance that President Trump did not know about the 2016 meeting. What’s more, the author of the book, Michael Wolff, claims that his book “Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House” will open the eyes of many skeptical Americans as to what kind of leader Trump really is. Wolff argues that this awakening will ultimately lead to his removal from office. Nonetheless, the White House claims Wolff’s book is “full of lies” and the President says he gave Wolff “zero” access to the White House. Do you think President Trump knew about the meeting 2016 meeting?
