On Wednesday, top House Intel Committee member Adam Schiff (D-California) slammed Donald Trump Jr. following his recent questioning.
“He acknowledged having discussed the June 9 meeting and the emails that went into establishing that meeting after those emails became public,” he said.
The Dem Rep continued, stating, “He acknowledged discussing that matter with his father, but refused to answer questions about that discussion along the basis of a attorney-client privilege. In my view there is no attorney-client privilege that protects a discussion between father and son.”
Schiff added that details from such a discussion could reveal efforts to “obstruct the investigation into the campaign’s contact with the Russians or any other misrepresentations to the public about that meeting.”
Rep. Jackie Speier (D-California) echoed Schiff’s criticism of Trump Jr. in an interview with CNN on Wednesday.
“My takeaway is he has a very serious case of amnesia and he was pretty non-responsive on a lot of issues that frankly, you would have a recollection of, considering it was just a year ago that many of these events took place. So, it’s – there’s still a lot of pieces to this puzzle that we don’t have the answers to,” she said.
Trump Jr. was questioned behind closed doors on Wednesday as part of the ongoing Russia investigation.
