Hannity And Bannon Claim The ‘Deep State’ Is After Them For Backing Trump

Since exiting the White House, former presidential strategist Steve Bannon has resettled into his role as a conspiracy theory-flogging alt-right crank on Breitbart.

The normally media-shy Bannon recently joined Fox News host Sean Hannity, who has lately lurched further into Infowars territory, and discussed how they are both being targeted by the “deep state” for supporting President Donald Trump.

On a special edition of Breitbart News Tonight hosted by Bannon, Steve declared to Hannity about the “deep state”, “I think they’re coming after Trump because they understand they have to destroy Trump, because to destroy Trump is not to destroy Trump, it’s to destroy this movement. They want to take that voice away from the forgotten man.” Replied Hannity, “This is not about General Flynn. This isn’t about Paul Manafort. They’re just pawns.” Answered Bannon, “Amen.” Commented Sean, “The ultimate goal—Andy McCarthy had a great piece. This is about the impeachment of the president. This is not about Trump-Russia collusion.”

Fellow guest Pat Goodell, a Fox News political analyst, then shared his belief that the federal government is putting forth a “slow-motion, steady effort to basically have a coup d’etat.” Goodell stated that he thinks the United States is now a “post-constitutional society” and claimed that clandestine government forces are “willing to destroy this country to keep control.” Hannity then expressed his anxiety that “people like us” who backed outsider Trump and tried to prove the invalidity of special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russian collusion investigation will end up being imprisoned. Said the increasingly paranoid Hannity, “By the way, people like us may end up in jail. Let me tell you. They will stop at nothing. This is what I’m trying to get across to people. This is serious. This is the rule of law in this country now.” Concurred Bannon, “Amen, Amen.” Are you disturbed at how frankly nuts prominent right-wing figures like Steve Bannon and Sean Hannity have gotten?
