Colbert Mocks Flynn’s Guilty Plea With Tiny Handcuffs For Trump

Special prosecutor Robert Mueller’s investigation seems to be picking up momentum as the law enforcement veteran is working his way up from the bottom. Just last week, former national security adviser for Trump, Michael Flynn pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI. According to recent reports, Flynn is now working with Mueller in an effort to save himself. After all, why else Mueller cut Flynn a deal? However, a few of Trump’s most vocal critics on the late-night host circuit such as Stephen Colbert have often mocked the President throughout this time in office. On the heels of Flynn’s guilty plea, Colbert responded by giving Trump and early Christmas gift on his show: a pair of tiny handcuffs.

On Monday night, the “Late Show” host opened with a joke about Mueller “coming down the White House chimney,” following the indictment of Michael Flynn. “Well, it feels like Christmas is here,” Colbert said. “Courtesy of Robert Mueller coming down the White House chimney with a sack full of subpoenas. Mr. President, I got you a gift, too.” Colbert then pulled a pair of tiny handcuffs from his pocket, saying: “I just hope they’re not too big on you.”

Colbert responded to Flynn’s guilty plea on Monday, joking that “as it turns out, that’s against the law. Did you know that? Lot of people don’t know that,” Colbert added, doing an impersonation of Trump. And most of them work for me.” He continued: Colbert said that Flynn was “singing like a canary.” He added, “Well, actually,” Colbert amended, displaying a picture of an angry-looking Flynn in his military uniform: “More like an angry, shaved eagle.” Watch the entire clip below and comment with your thoughts.
