Rick Joyner Says It’s ‘Weird’ For Women To Talk About Football

When Panther’s quarterback Cam Newton told a female reporter that he thought it was “funny to hear a female talk to talk about [running] routes,” the media quickly swarmed Newton over his sexist remarks. However, Newtown realized the error of his ways and apologized. But right-wing radical pastor Rick Joyner says there was no reason for the NFL player apologize over his comments because every man he knows who played football agrees that it is “weird” to hear women talk about the sport. Joyner went on to explain that since women are not allowed to play football they couldn’t possibly understand the sport enough to talk about it.

During a video that Joyner posted to social media, he said: “I don’t believe that was anti-women, what Cam said. No woman has run routes in either college or professional football. How do they really understand what’s going on down there? It just seems incongruous and it seems patronizing that they’re being patronized to take over more and more of the sportscasting, the analyzing and things like that. And those who have played the game, I can understand their point. It just seems weird.”

He continued: “I think it would seem weird too for men to start becoming experts on some things like childbirth that only women have experienced. No man has ever experienced that and it would just seem weird.” What Joyner fails to recognize is that people can learn things a variety of ways. For example, a male doctor doesn’t need to experience childbirth in order to successfully deliver a baby. In this case, a female sports reporter doesn’t necessarily need to have played for an NFL team to understand a common strategy in the sport enough to engage with a player about a game.  Watch Joyner’s full video below and comment with your thoughts.
