“Late Night” host Seth Meyers went after President Trump during the opening monologue of his show on Monday.
“Our president is an a**hole,” Meyers stated.
“Last weekend was in many ways a perfect distillation of Trump’s presidency ― feeding his base racial and cultural resentments in order to keep them on his side as his team of corrupt authoritarians try to swindle hard-working Americans out of their health care,” he added.
Meyers then commented on NBA player Lebron James calling President Trump “a bum.”
“Is there anything better than calling Donald Trump a bum?” Meyers quipped.
Meyers also commented on the difference between Trump’s response to violence that occurred because of the white supremacist rally in Charlottesville and the silent peaceful protest by a few NFL players during the National Anthem before games.
“When black athletes peacefully protest racism and police brutality, Trump has no trouble summoning his outrage. But when white supremacists march with Nazi flags and Confederate flags … he defends them.”
Last Friday, Trump made the controversial remarks while speaking at a rally in Alabama.
“Wouldn’t you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, ‘Get that son of a bitch off the field right now,” the president said to the crowd.
