MSNBC’s Katy Tur Describes Pass Trump Made At Her

Unflappable MSNBC and NBC News correspondent Katy Tur received death threats from supporters of racist reality TV star Donald Trump when she was covering Trump’s campaign trail last year.

In her new book, Tur recalled a Trump encounter of a different unsettling nature when Trump made a pass at her on the set of MSNBC’s Morning Joe show.

Tur put pen to paper and recounted her firsthand experiences reporting on the 2016 election in her new book Unbelievable: My Front-Row Seat to the Craziest Campaign in American History. Over the course of the campaign, Trump frequently used Tur as an effective political prop at his rallies to point out to his raucous crowds how the media was biased against him and against them, as well. Trump clearly felt that Tur somehow enjoyed this abuse, as he ended up trying to grope her when he met up with her in person. Political Wire’s Taegan Goddard tweeted out a choice quote from Tur’s book where the journalist described the sleazy situation on the Morning Joe set, writing, “Before I know what’s happening, his hands are on my shoulders and his lips are on my cheek. My eyes widen. My body freezes. My heart stops. Fuck. I hope the cameras didn’t see that. My bosses are never going to take me seriously.”

MSNBC also put out a lengthier excerpt from Unbelievable. Writes Tur in the book about the election’s result, “My brutal, crazy, exasperating year with Trump is going to end — by not ending at all. Trump will be president. The most powerful person in the world. And I will be locked in a press pen for the rest of my life. Does anyone really believe he’ll respect term limits? I have a vision of myself at sixty, Trump at a hundred, in some midwestern convention hall. The children of his 2016 supporters are spitting on me, and he is calling my name: ‘She’s back there, Little Katy! She’s back there.'” Tur adds, “I’ve heard him insult a war hero, brag about grabbing women by the pussy, denigrate the judicial system, demonize immigrants, fight with the pope, doubt the democratic process, advocate torture and war crimes, tout the size of his junk in a presidential debate, trash the media, and endanger my life. I’ve learned that none of this matters to an Electoral College majority of American voters. They’ve decided that this menacing, indecent, post-truth landscape is where they want to live for the next four years.” Are you nauseated that Trump made a pass at Katy Tur?
