On Wednesday, former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton slammed Donald Trump Jr.’s explanation of his meeting with the Russian lawyer whom he thought had disparaging intel on Clinton. At first, Trump Jr. claimed the meeting for the purpose of discussing adoption of Russian children by Americans. However, later he admitted he met with the Russian lawyer to acquire dirt on Clinton so he could see if she was fit to be President of the United States.
Clinton told NBC that Trump Jr.’s explanation was “ridiculous.” Clinton went on to say: “It’s another absurd lie to cover up what really was going on which I hope we finally uncover and understand,” POLITICO reports.
To this day, Trump Jr. claims he gained no useful information from the meeting. The meeting, which took place last June in Trump tower, was also attended by President Donald Trump’s then-campaign chairman Paul Manafort and Jared Kushner, the president’s son in law and a top White House adviser.
Clinton went on during her first live interview since November to say: “What I try to do in the book is to put forth all the information that I think should trouble Americans, whether you’re Republicans or Democrats or anything else. We know that there was communication. That certainly has come out, and we know that there was a lot of interesting coincidences, if you will, between what people associated with Trump were saying at the time and what later came to pass.”
She continued: “Look, absent that, I believe – and I think the evidence shows – I would have won. Were there headwinds? Yes. Were there lots of other issues, and this whole interference by Russia is still an issue? Absolutely. But the role that he played, historically, was determinative.” Do you agree with the former Secretary of State?
