Many Americans are not happy with President Trump’s performance at the G-20 summit last week. Trump’s meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin has caused controversy, with Trump seemingly letting Russia off the hook for meddling in the presidential election. While many have focused on that meeting, Trump pulled another unusual move. Trump had his daughter, Ivanka, sit in for him at a meeting while he attended to other business. Trump took to twitter to defend himself, while also criticizing the media.
“If Chelsea Clinton were asked to hold the seat for her mother, as her mother gave away our country away, the Fake News would say CHELSEA FOR PRES! When I left Conference Room for short meetings with Japan and other countries, I asked Ivanka to hold seat. Very standard. Angela M agrees!” Trump tweeted.
Chelsea Clinton then responded on Monday morning, clearly not pleased with the shot Trump took at her.
“Good morning Mr. President. It would never have occurred to my mother or my father to ask me. Were you giving our country away? Hoping not,” Chelsea tweeted.
Although German Chancellor Angela Merkel defended Trump’s decision, many in the US have questioned the move. What was so important that President Trump had to leave? Does he still not fully understand all the responsibilities that come with being President of the United States?
