Neil Gorsuch today, appointed with the ambition of filling one of the most radically conservative Court Seats, was faced with minor determent as the Democratic Party has been hesitant in voting him in. Senator Chuck Schumer is pushing for a delay in the voting process, as the Trump Campaign is still under investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Schumer says,
“If the shoe was on the other foot — and a Democratic president was under investigation by the FBI … Republicans would be howling at the moon about filling a Supreme Court seat.”
As the Trump team continues to receive unwanted attention from investigators, the appointee to the chair may not end up being a member of the GOP-something that won’t be well received along party lines.
In response to the prospect of facing a delay in the voting, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said that he, at the present, had to intention to do so; in effect allowing the potential conflict of interest to go untended to.
